The Preparation

There are two kinds of opportunities that come your way, the one you are prepared for and the one you are not so prepared for. We are constantly reminded to always be on the lookout for opportunities. Catherine DeVrye says: “The opportunity of a lifetime must be grasped within the lifetime of that opportunity.”

I am analysing most of the opportunities that I have been offered in my lifetime and to be honest I wasn’t always prepared. This does not mean I had no clue of what I was doing. However, I was either fully anticipating the opportunity or I had the courage to seize an opportunity and take on the challenge.

Now one needs knowledge in order to identify the opportunity as a good opportunity and so that is where preparation plays a role. We all would like to be 100% prepared for most of the events in our lives but it is impractical. Granted, there are industries where you would need your “10,000 hours” with a mix of talent to actually be fully prepared.

As we usher this new season I would like to remind you of your unmatched power. You will have many offers this year and yes you will be prepared for some (assuming you put in the work) and you will not be prepared for some. I am here to encourage you to take both, if you fail you learn and do it again and if you win you do it again.
